Irish groups to compete in Estonia and Belgium

There are numerous causes to go to Estonia, however seven Irishmen have taken their golf equipment this week to compete within the European Seniors Championship at Parnu Bay Golf Links.

olf Club Vicenza’s Thomas Anderson, Douglas’ Karl Bornemann, The European Club’s Roy Connolly, Kinsale’s Shane Kenneally, Michael McCormick from West Middlesex, David Mulholland from Castlerock, Peter Sheehan from Ballybunion.

Pärnu Bay Golf Links is described as “a hyperlinks course within the true sense of the phrase: a coastal stretch of land with sandy soil and fescue grasses.”

The first hyperlinks course within the Baltic area, it was designed by architect Lassi Pekka Tilander with Mick McShane, finest generally known as the lead shaper for St. Andrews Links’ Castle Course and Kingsbarns.

Meanwhile, a four-man crew is competing in the present day within the 2022 European Team Championships for Golfers with a Disability.

World primary Brendan Lawlor (Dundalk) is joined at Koksijde Golf ter Hille in Belgium by Alan Gaynor (Co. Sligo), Aidan Grenham (Ballinasloe) and Conor Stone (Carton House).

They are accompanied for the three-day occasion by Captain Gareth McNeilly and Golf Ireland’s High Performance Director Neil Manchip.

“We are thrilled to be sending a crew to Belgium to signify Ireland on the European Team Championship.

“The Selection Days in Carton House proved very useful in choosing the ultimate make-up of the crew.”
